Easter Egg Hunt

The Walking Tours on Wheels Easter Egg Hunt took place on Saturday, 12th April at Abbey Close in Paisley.

Over 50 children took part in the hunt with lucky Matthew Duncan finding the Golden Egg and with it a special prize.

Doors Open Day 13

Doors Open Day 2013 took place over the weekend of 14th & 15th September. Once again building all over Renfrewshire threw open their doors to let the general public get a glimpse of hidden treasures and sights. Click here for more photos.

Armed Forces Service

The Armed Forces Day Service took place in Paisley Abbey on Saturday, 22nd June. Renfrewshire’s Provost, Ann Hall and Inverclyde’s Provost, Robert Moran, joined with Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire, Guy Clark, along with members of the Armed Forces and their families to celebrate and give thanks to the work of the Armed Forces.

Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
Barshaw Gala Day

The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders paraded through the centre of Paisley today, Wednesday 12th June to celebrate a name change to the Balaklava Battalion later this month.

Barshaw Gala Day took place om Saturday, 15th June, at Barshaw Park. For the second year running heavy rain disrupted the festivities but a break in the weather mid-afternoon brought the crowds out

Provost's Abseil - Superwoman 2

The Provost’s Abseil event took place on Saturday, 25th May. Raising money for her chosen charities, the Provost along with 20 other brave volunteers abseiled down Renfrewshire House in a variety of costumes.For more photos click here.


West End Fair 2013

The West End Fair took place on a bright and sunny Sunday, 26th May 2013. A large crowd gathered in Ferguslie Gardens where a variety of stalls and entertainment had been lined up to entertain in this annual event. For more photos click here

The Robertson Run

The Robertson Run took place on Sunday, 19th May over a 5 mile course on top of the Gleniffer Braes. Organized by Good2Run to raise funds for Accord Hospice.

Pooches in the Park

The annual Pooches in the Park took place on Sunday, 5th May. Over 60 dogs, and their owners, took part in the sponsored event to raise funds for Accord Hospice with prizes being awarded to the best dressed dog.

2013 Duck Race

The annual Duck Race took place on the White Cart River on Saturday, 11th May. This year’s race starter was STV Weatherman Sean Batty. Click here for more photos.

The Olympic Parade took place in Glasgow on 14th September, to honour those Scottish athletes that won medals in the Olympics and Paralympic Games.


Anne-Princess Royal

Anne, The Princess Royal, was in Paisley on 15th October 2012 for a special service in Paisley Abbey as part of the 850th Anniversary of the Abbey.

A Memorial Stone was unveiled in Paisley on 1st September in honour of soldiers who fought in conflicts since the end of the Second World War.

The Olympic Torch came to Renfrewshire on 8th June when thousands turned out to see the Torch being run through Lochwinnoch. Click here for more.

Jenny Enterkin, one of the few survivors of the Woodside First Aid Post Bomb which killed 92  on 6th May 1941 laid a wreath at the newly unveiled memorial to the victims of the bombing. Alongside Jenny was Jim Smith of the Renfrewshire Family History Society who was instrumental in making the memorial a reality. See Facebook

It was Murray Hysteria down at Brodie Park Thursday, 6th July 2011 when Andy and the rest of the Davis Cup Team paid a visit to the old tennis courts before work begins to revamp them.

Ellen Farmer of the Old Paisley Society unveiled the new plinth commemorating the famous Paisley Snail Case which established  the Law of Negligence. The ceremony took place as part of the two day conference organised by UWS which saw laywers fly in from around the globe to celebrate the famous case of Donoghue vs Stevenson
