The Braehead Junior Ice Hockey Club held its 2008/2009 Awards Dance recently at The Glennifer Hotel in Paisley. On hand to present the awards was Chris Conaboy, Assistant Player/Coach with the Paisley Pirates. The awards were split into Under 12’s and Under 20’s. The winners were as follows :-

John Connolly also received a special award- that of Renfrewshire’s Senior Sports Personality of the Year.

The award was accepted by John’s parents Ian and Caron, seen here with Chris Conaboy and Lynne Burns.

John is currently following his ice hockey dream in Canada and America having started his career with the Braehead Juniors before moving onto GB teams and then the world.

Braehead Junior Ice Hockey Club offers a fantastic opportunity for young people to get involved in the exciting and entertaining sport. It takes children from the ages of 6 up to 20 and prides itself, through a dedicated band of enthusiastic parents, coaches and helpers, in improving not only the childrens fitness but also their self-esteem.

As the only ice hockey club in Renfrewshire its aim is to keep the long ice hockey tradition in the area alive - a tradition that goes back over 60 years.

The club is always on the lookout for new members. Anyone interested in joining should contact Lynne Burns on 0141 587 1763.
